Agenda for Membership meeting - May 12, 2009

This Sunday after church there will be a meeting for all members and regular attenders of Eighth Day to continue the discernment process for the future of Eighth Day.  We will be considering major changes in how we do church and are accountable to the structures of disciplines.  The meeting will be immediately after church either in the big room or in the orientation room.  This is a continuation of our last members meeting. As the Servant Leaders we believe it important to have a different structure of leadership and participation in Eighth Day.  This is a process that may take several months.

Here are several of the questions that will anchor our discussions on Sunday.

1. How do we choose to intentionally belong to this Eighth Day community?

2. How do we create and build intentional practices that lead to meaningful spiritual maturity?

3. How do we support one another to become whole as spiritual beings?

4. How can we cultivate unity and cohesion in our membership and leadership processes?

  • Should we be moving towards one level of membership?
  • Should we be moving toward a community that shares leadership (i.e., a community of leaders)?

5. When differences come up, how are they explored and resolved.  Who is responsible and accountable for guiding that process?
