Eighth Day Budget Process

To be eligible to receive funds from the Eighth Day Faith community, an organization must work with our budget process for the next year.  We prepare our annual budget in the fall of the preceding year, beginning the process about the middle of October.  All requests for inclusion in our budget must be sponsored by a member of the Eighth Day worshiping community.  Sponsors agree to be responsible for advocating for the request by:

  • making sure that the request has been received and acted upon by the Budget Committee,
  • remaining available to the Committee to answer any questions about the request, and
  • attending the December members’ meeting where the budget is finalized.

If an organization wishes to be included in the budget for 2015, David Dorsey, the Chair of the Budget Committee, must receive your request not later than midnight on October 5, 2014. The request should be not more than one or two pages and include:

  • a brief description of your project or program and your specific accomplishments for the previous 12 months
  • the amount requested
  • what the money will be used for
  • the name of the sponsoring member from our worshiping community

The Budget Committee will compile the applications, begin meeting in late October, and present a recommended budget to the membership at the church budget meeting on the first Sunday of December.  At that meeting, the membership will adopt the final Eighth Day Budget for next year. (Except in exceptional circumstances, new requests that have not been vetted by the budget committee generally will not be considered at the December budget meeting.)

The sponsoring member is then responsible for communicating to the requesting organization the amount included for the organization in the Eighth Day final budget.
